Remember, in His Word, God has:
- Something to see – what does the text say
- Something to understand – what does it mean
- Something to apply – what does it mean to me
- Something to praise – for what are you thankful?
This Week’s Reading Plans:
1) Through the Bible
Day 1: Gen 47-48 | Day 4: Ex 3-4 |
Day 2: Gen 49-50 | Day 5: Ex 5-6 |
Day 3: Exodus 1-2 | Day 6: Ex 7-8 |
2) Key Passages
This week’s devotional theme is judgment. The Sunday sermon text is expected to be Genesis 11-12. We prefer mercy over judgment in our lives, but both mercy and judgment are necessary characteristics that flow from a God who is love. As is often the case the bible brings together these elements side by side. In Genesis 3 we see both curse and promise. Following the judgment of ch 11 we get the call of (and promise to) Abram, the father of faith!
Day 1: Gen 11:1-9 | Day 4: Gen 12:4-9 |
Day 2: Gen 11:27-32 | Day 5: Romans 4:13-17 |
Day 3: Gen 12:1-3 | Day 6: Rom 5:1-5 |
3) Key Verses
Day 1: Gen 11:1-2 | Day 4: Gen 11:8-9 |
Day 2: Gen 11:4-5 | Day 5: Gen 12:1-2 |
Day 3: Gen 11:6-7 | Day 6: Romans 4:13;16 |
4) Pre-readers (in the translation of your choice; quoted below from the NLT)
Gen 12:2
“I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.”
