Remember, in His Word, God has:
- Something to see – what does the text say
- Something to understand – what does it mean
- Something to apply – what does it mean to me
- Something to praise – for what are you thankful?
(1) Through the Bible
Day 1: Judges 5, 6 | Day 4: Judges 11, 12 |
Day 2: Judges 7, 8 | Day 5: Judges 13, 14 |
Day 3: Judges 9, 10 | Day 6: Judges 15, 16 |
This week’s theme from Joshua 6 is conquest as we cover the fall of Jericho. The passage really starts at the end of chapter 5 so I have included 5:13-15 when Joshua comes face to face with the commander of the army of the Lord. I am inclined to believe this is an encounter with the pre-incarnate Christ as Joshua is not rebuked to worshipping this “commander” and the reference to ‘holy ground’ echoes what the Lord says to Moses in Exodus 3:5 from the burning bush. As you work through Joshua 6 consider the interesting patterns and typology presented. We see again promise/fulfilment and command/obedience themes, plus the frequency of the number 7 (and the 6 plus 1) accentuates the idea of the Promised Land being a new creation, or new Eden.
