Remember, in His Word, God has:

  • Something to see – what does the text say
  • Something to understand – what does it mean
  • Something to apply – what does it mean to me
  • Something to praise – for what are you thankful?

(1) Through the Bible

Day 1: 1 Samuel 27, 28Day 4: 2 Samuel 3, 4
Day 2: 1 Samuel 29, 30, 31Day 5: 2 Samuel 5, 6
Day 3: 2 Samuel 1, 2Day 6: 2 Samuel 7, 8

This Sunday we will be teaching from Joshua 24 which records the final act of Joshua’s leadership – the renewal of the covenant. Covenant renewal is recorded several times in scripture; we see it also under the leadership of Moses, Asa, Josiah, and Ezra/Nehemiah. The chapter is structured as follows: covenant history / covenant renewed / covenant ratified, and then the death and burial of Joshua. Leaders saw fit to renew commitment to God’s covenant during periods of transition, or following sin. One question for us as Christians is how to look at covenant renewal; does it have any place in our lives, and if so how?
