Remember, in His Word, God has:

  • Something to see – what does the text say
  • Something to understand – what does it mean
  • Something to apply – what does it mean to me
  • Something to praise – for what are you thankful?

(1) Through the Bible

Day 1: 1 Chronicles 23, 24Day 4: 2 Chronicles 1, 2
Day 2: 1 Chronicles 25, 26Day 5: 2 Chronicles 3, 4
Day 3: 1 Chronicles 27, 28, 29Day 6: 2 Chronicles 5. 6

This week’s theme will be obedience as seen through the ‘Tale of Two Kings’ – otherwise known as the adventures of Saul and David. In the key passages below we consider Saul’s disobedience and note the downward trajectory to the point he consults the witch of Endor in chapter 28 against the obedience (even though imperfect) of David. What is the source of obedience? What allows the cultivation of obedience in one’s life. Is it just a ‘pull yourself up by the bootstraps’ discipline, or is something else at work in those who manifest obedient lifestyles?
