Remember, in His Word, God has:
- Something to see – what does the text say
- Something to understand – what does it mean
- Something to apply – what does it mean to me
- Something to praise – for what are you thankful?
(1) Through the Bible
Day 1: Nehemiah 9-10 | Day 4: Esther 3-4 |
Day 2: Nehemiah 11-13 | Day 5: Esther 5-6 |
Day 3: Esther 1-2 | Day 6: Esther 7-8 |
This Sunday’s theme is “division” as we consider the dividing of the promised kingdom. Key Old Testament texts include 1 Kings 11 and 12. When we consider the unprecedented wisdom and wealth of Solomon, and remember the promise to David of an everlasting kingdom, it comes as a shock to see the promised kingdom divided so quickly following the death of David’s son Solomon. The key passages of 1 Kings 11 and 12 give us the context that helps us understand the nation’s circumstances.

Day 3: 1 Kings 11:26-40 | Day 6: 1 Kings 12:16-24 |

(4) Pre-readers (in the translation of your choice, quoted below from the NLT)
Please note that for our pre-readers we felt that finding one or two verses to summarize our week on the divided kingdom was more easily done outside the Old Testament narrative within 1 Kings 11/12
“If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.”
Mark 3:24-25
