Remember, in His Word, God has:
- Something to see – what does the text say
- Something to understand – what does it mean
- Something to apply – what does it mean to me
- Something to praise – for what are you thankful?
(1) Through the Bible
| Day 1: Matthew 22-23 | Day 4: Mt 27-28 |
| Day 2: Mt 24-25 | Day 5: Mark 1-3 |
| Day 3: Mt 26 | Day 6: Mk 4-5 |
This Sunday the preaching text is Mark 5 and the theme is authority. Throughout the chapter Jesus exercises authority: over unclean spirits in the demon-possessed man, and over death and sickness in the cases of Jairus’ daughter and the woman suffering from chronic bleeding. Faith is a key element in the story; but not a faith in faith itself, but faith in a faithful Saviour.
Note: The early readers’ assignment is a little longer than I normally give, so parents should be prepared to help them out. I wanted to include both of the parallel stories in Mark 5:21-43.

(4) Pre-readers (in the translation of your choice, quoted below from the Pastor Gary modification version of the NLT 🙂
“Amazement gripped the audience, and they began to discuss what had happened. “What sort of new teaching is this?” they asked excitedly. “It has such authority! Even evil spirits obey his orders!”
