Director of Outreach and Worship

Overview:

This full-time position is to oversee, develop, and implement the objectives of Community Bible Church’s philosophy of ministry under the direction and leadership of the Lead Pastor. This role seeks to equip worshippers, develop gospel relationality with young people and adults for the purpose of evangelism and discipleship, and reach out to Ilderton and area through community connections for gospel proclamation. This role will require a firm grasp of CBC’s values and beliefs and an ability to engage with people in an effective manner to execute effective ministry programs and objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for two of the following three areas (Worship, Family Ministry, Outreach).

 

Qualifications:

As a church leader, this role is responsible to model a life of devotion to Jesus Christ. By seeking to grow as a Christian, this individual will model strong relationships with others, setting and maintaining appropriate boundaries with time and relationships to protect Christ’s honour and personal character and integrity. As a team player, the successful candidate will fulfill this role and ministry through godly character, a life of integrity, and being above reproach. This individual will possess musical and creative skills who is willing to apply Scriptural truths in a relational manner for gospel outreach and discipleship.

  1. Have a clear profession of faith in Jesus Christ
  2. A personal and consistent walk with the Lord (through regular personal devotion, corporate worship, and submission to authority)
  3. Theological training from an accredited institution
  4. Possess musical ability and leadership skills
  5. Membership and regular worship attendance at CBC (and if married, one’s spouse also)
  6. Agreement with the Doctrinal Statement, Mission, and Values of CBC
  7. Gospel Relationality, Motivation, and Organizational skills
  8. Live within a reasonable distance of Ilderton (to effectively minister to the community) The successful applicant will display the characteristics of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1, possess theological training from an accredited Christian institution, and be willing to live within 20 minutes of Ilderton. Canadian residents will be given priority.

 

Ministry Responsibilities:

  1. Worship

To be effective and fruitful in this role, you will recruit and invest in volunteers who will implement the goals and objectives of the worship ministry. You will provide consistent leadership before the congregation and in serving volunteers.

  • Coordinate with the Music & Worship Ministry Leader, the Lead Pastor, and staff regarding the planning of Sunday services & other worship ministry
  • Equip and involve congregational members in Sunday worship
  • Lead and equip various music teams for Sunday worship
  • Coordinate budgetary needs with the appropriate ministry leaders (sound, music & worship, IT)

  1. Family Ministry – Youth & Young Adults

This role will play a vital connection point between children’s ministry and the youth ministry and families of CBC and the surrounding community. This will require good communication, administration, and event planning skills. By being highly relational with gospel focus, this role will seek to engage people to know and grow in faith in Jesus Christ.

  • Oversee and equip the youth ministry by working with leaders and developing a team of spiritually qualified individuals
  • Connect with young people and young adults (ages 12-30) to provide a culture of shepherding, care, discipleship, and outreach
  • Ensure that policies and procedures of CBC align with Children’s Ministry by working with the Director of Ministry and Families
  • Assist with the Life Group Council as needed

 

  1. Outreach

Pointing to Christ, this role will trust in the presence and power of the Spirit and the proclamation of the good news of Christ. Seeking to know the community will be essential for effective outreach. Working together with volunteers, this role will seek to model and encourage the normal practice of speaking about Christ in all of life.

  • Work with existing outreach opportunities
  • Equip people to use events effectively for outreach
  • Develop community initiatives to minister to the local area through active acts of service and love
  • Continue to foster a culture of everyday evangelism and normalizing evangelism among the church

 

  1. Other Duties

As part of a staff team, you will be required to attend and participate in staff meetings, events, and activities. By working as a team, you will grow alongside the other team members by contributing in a positive, encouraging manner.

  • Preaching (as requested by the Lead Pastor – approximately 3-6 times per year)
  • Shepherding (as needed)
  • Administration of budgets
  • Participate in church, staff events, and ministry leader council (or as requested by the Lead Pastor)
  • Prepare an annual ministry plan that aligns with the elders’ master plan
  • Prepare reports as requested by the Lead Pastor

 

After 6 months, the successful candidate will be considered for the Leadership Training modules and consideration for the pastoral office.

This position reports to the Lead Pastor.
