Remember, in His Word, God has:

  • Something to see – what does the text say
  • Something to understand – what does it mean
  • Something to apply – what does it mean to me
  • Something to praise – for what are you thankful?

(1) Through the Bible

Day 1: Ezra 7-8Day 4: Nehemiah 3-4
Day 2: Ezra 9-10Day 5: Nehemiah 5-6
Day 3: Nehemiah 1-2Day 6: Nehemiah 7-8

This Sunday’s theme is on the Temple. Key Old Testament texts include 1 Kings 8 and 2 Chronicles 6 (which is our focus). The Temple was the place of God’s dwelling. As Christians, our understanding of God’s Temple reorients away from place and toward a person – the Messiah. The last day of readings gives a brief contextual “Christ Connection” on this thought. In Christian thought on the Temple, there are both corporate and individual implications. If you have time, read the final two chapters of the Revelation and note there is no temple in the new City of God. Why? Jesus himself dwells with his people – a fitting end to God’s story begun in Genesis!
