Remember, in His Word, God has:

  • Something to see – what does the text say
  • Something to understand – what does it mean
  • Something to apply – what does it mean to me
  • Something to praise – for what are you thankful?

(1) Through the Bible

Day 1: Proverbs 15; Isaiah 16-18Day 4: Proverbs 18; Is 24-26
Day 2: Proverbs 16; Is 19-21Day 5: Proverbs 19; Is 27-28
Day 3: Proverbs 17; Is 22-23Day 6: Proverbs 20; Is 29-30

Next Sunday’s theme will be Threat as as we look at 2 Kings 22 and Isaiah 36-39. These parallel passages consider the reign of Judah’s faithful King Hezekiah. During his reign we read of the fall of the Northern Kingdom to the Assyrians, Hezekiah’s subsequent failed attempt at appeasement, and the fascinating account of the Assyrian King Sennacherib’s attempts to conquer Judah. Highlights include the mocking threats of Sennacherib, Isaiah’s counsel to Hezekiah, Hezekiah’s prayer to the Lord, and the Lord’s response. Through it all we again that God rules all nations and that he is the faithful one in whom his children need to trust.

(4) Pre-readers (in the translation of your choice, quoted below from the NLT)

“You were sorry and humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I said against this city and its people—that this land would be cursed and become desolate. You tore your clothing in despair and wept before me in repentance. And I have indeed heard you, says the Lord.”

2 Kings 22:19
