Remember, in His Word, God has:

  • Something to see – what does the text say
  • Something to understand – what does it mean
  • Something to apply – what does it mean to me
  • Something to praise – for what are you thankful?

(1) Through the Bible

Day 1: Mark 6-7Day 4: Mk 12-13
Day 2: Mk 8-9Day 5: Mk 14
Day 3: Mk 10-11Day 6: Mk 15-16

This Sunday the preaching text is from Matthew 5-7 and the theme is teaching. This text is perhaps history’s most famous sermon: the Sermon on the Mount. Therein you will find such treasures as the Beatitudes, the Lord’s Prayer, ethical teaching (including: anger, lust, divorce, retaliation, loving enemies, judging others, and the Golden Rule), and proverbial teaching such as building your house upon the rock. Perhaps, like I am encouraging early readers below, pick out a passage that you don’t have memorized and do it.

Note: For the early readers there are several wonderful little pieces within these three chapters which would be great for your child(ten). I highlighted the Beatitudes, but if you prefer feel free to choose the Lord’s Prayer from Matt 6:5-13. I encourage you to help your child memorize whichever section you choose.

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.
